In addition to The Adventures of Molly Whuppie and Other Appalachian Folktales, for middle grade readers and above, 
Shelby has published five picture books:   Potluck, The Someday House, What to Do About Pollution, and two others based on her family’s homeplace in Clay County, Kentucky: 
We Keep A Store, an American Bookseller Pick of the Lists, and Homeplace, a School Library Journal Best  Book and a Junior Library Guild Selection.  Though out of print, copies of these picture books are available from Amazon.com and other online vendors.

A sixth picture book, The Man Who Lived in a Hollow Tree, based on an Eastern Kentucky legend, will be published by Atheneum in 2009.
